MELBOURNE - Dec 1/11 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A high pressure system south of the Bight will extend a ridge across Victoria today. A cold front will pass through Bass Strait on Saturday then the high will drift slowly eastwards to be centred near Tasmania on Sunday and Monday. Forecast for the rest of FridayFine apart from isolated showers over East Gippsland which will clear during the afternoon. Cool and partly cloudy in the south, but milder and sunny skies north of the divide. Light to moderate south to southeasterly winds, freshening about the coast during the afternoon.Fire Danger - Generally low to ModerateSaturday 3 DecemberFine and mostly sunny over the north. Isolated showers developing on and south of the ranges during the day, mostly along the coastal fringe. Cool to mild with light to moderate south to southwesterly winds, locally fresh about the coast.Sunday 4 DecemberIsolated showers in the south contracting to Gippsland during the afternoon. Cool in the south but mild over the north. Light to moderate south to southeasterly wind.Monday 5 DecemberFine after isolated showers in East Gippsland clear during the afternoon.
