Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Dec 1/11 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A high pressure system south of the Bight will extend a ridge across Victoria on Friday. A cold front will pass through Bass Strait on Saturday then the high will drift slowly eastwards to be centred near Tasmania on Sunday and Monday.
Forecast for the rest of ThursdayIsolated showers in southern and mountain areas contracting to Gippsland. Moderate to fresh southwest to southerly winds.Friday 2 DecemberFine apart from some isolated showers over East Gippsland, clearing during the afternoon. Cool in the south, milder in the north with light to moderate south to southeasterly winds.Fire Danger -  Low to ModerateSaturday 3 DecemberFine over the north. Isolated showers developing over the eastern ranges and near the coast during the day. Cool to mild and partly cloudy in the south. Warmer and mostly sunny in the north. Light to moderate south to southwesterly winds, locally fresh about the coast.Sunday 4 DecemberIsolated showers in the south contracting to Gippsland during the afternoon. Cool in the south but mild over the north. Light to moderate south to southeasterly wind.Monday 5 DecemberFine after isolated showers in East Gippsland clear during the afternoon. Mild to warm with moderate to fresh southeasterly winds.The next routine forecast will be issued at 5:00 am EDT Friday.Product IDV10310
