Australia -- Queensland Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Nov 30/11 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Queensland was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Warning Summary at issue time
Flood warnings are current for various districts.
A fire weather warning is current for the Channel Country.
A strong wind warning has been issued for Thursday for southeast Queensland
waters.

Weather Situation
A trough is moving north along the N.S.W coast this morning and will pass
through the southeast coast of Queensland with stronger SSE winds. A trough also
occurs over the interior of Queensland.
Forecast for the rest of Thursday
Early thundery rain near the central coast and some patchy rain further south
over eastern districts, clearing. Showers and thunderstorms generally over the
tropics and through the central interior to the southeast interior this
afternoon. Thunderstorms tending to thundery rain over the southeast later in
the day with some moderate to heavy falls. Fine over the west with gusty SE
winds and severe to locally extreme fire dangers through the Channel Country.
Light to moderate SE to NE winds over most parts of the state. Strong SE winds
developing about the southeast coast.
Forecast for Friday
The surface trough stalls over the interior but progresses north to the
central coast. Showers and thunderstorms continuing over the tropics and
extending into the central Highlands with some rain areas. Becoming fine across
southern districts and the southeast. Strong winds continuing about the
southeast coast and the central coast.
Forecast for Saturday
Showers and thunderstorms across the tropics, extending into the central
west. Fine across southern and the southeast district. Strong winds persisting
about the southeast and central coasts. .
Forecast for Sunday
An approaching upper level trough with increase rain areas and thunderstorms
over the northwest with some moderate to heavy falls. Lighter rain extending
into the southern interior. Showers about the east coast. No change in the
tropics.
Outlook for Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday
The upper trough will approach Queensland on Monday with increasing rain
areas and thunderstorms over the interior, now spreading into the south and
southeast. Rain areas decreasing a little through Tuesday as the upper level
trough moves east. Much the same weather for Wednesday.
The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:10 pm EST
Thursday.
