MELBOURNE - Nov 30/11 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A cold front is just east of Victoria and is moving away to the east. On Thursday a high pressure system will develop south of the Bight and will drift only slowly eastwards over the next few days and should be centred near Tasmania later on Sunday. A weak cold front will move through Bass Strait on Saturday. Forecast for the rest of WednesdayScattered showers in southern and eastern areas. Local hail near the coast. Snowfalls possible about southern Alpine peaks. Cold and gusty southwesterly winds.Thursday 1 DecemberIsolated showers in southern and mountain areas, scattered about the coast in the morning, contracting to the southeast later. Cool with moderate to fresh southwest to southerly winds.Fire Danger - Low to moderateFriday 2 DecemberFine apart from some isolated showers over East Gippsland, clearing later. Cool in the south, milder in the north with light to moderate south to southeasterly winds.Saturday 3 DecemberFine apart from isolated showers developing over the eastern ranges during the afternoon and isolated coastal showers later. Cool to mild and partly cloudy in the south. Warmer and mostly sunny in the north. Light to moderate south to southwesterly winds, locally fresh about the coast.Sunday 4 DecemberIsolated showers in the south contracting to Gippsland during the afternoon. Cool in the south but mild over the north.
