MELBOURNE - Nov 30/11 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A high near New Zealand extends a ridge over the north coast of NSW. A broad trough lies over western NSW. A cold front approaches the trough from the southwest, and this will move through much of the state on Wednesday and through northeastern NSW on Thursday. Along the coast, the change is forecast to be strong, reaching gale force at times Wednesday evening. It is expected to reach Gabo Island Wednesday morning and the Sydney coast Wednesday evening and the far North Coast on Thursday morning. A south to southeast airflow and isolated showers will affect the coast Friday and over the weekend with generally fine conditions west of the ranges. Forecast for the rest of WednesdayShowers and thunderstorms in eastern and central districts. Fine in the far west. North to northwest winds ahead of a cooler south to southwest change through western and southern parts, strong along the coast.Thursday 1 DecemberShowers or rain areas and isolated thunderstorms over the northeast quarter. Isolated showers about the southern coast and ranges. Mostly sunny remainder. Cool southwest to southerly winds extending throughout, strong and gusty along the coast.Friday 2 DecemberIsolated showers along the coast and eastern ranges more likely in the north.
