MELBOURNE - Nov 29/11 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A high pressure system is located near New Zealand. A cold front and associated low pressure trough will move through eastern Victoria this morning, introducing a colder southwesterly airstream. On Thursday a high pressure system will develop south of the Bight and will move only slowly eastwards over the next few days. Forecast for the rest of WednesdayA band of rain crossing the State. Isolated thunderstorms near and east of the rainband. Scattered showers to follow over southern and mountain districts. Small hail possible with showers near the coast. Colder southwest to southerly winds extending throughout and snowfalls possible about southern Alpine peaks later.Fire Danger - High in the northwest. Low to moderate elsewhere.Thursday 1 DecemberIsolated showers in southern and mountain areas, more widespread about the coast in the morning. Showers contracting to the southeast later. Showers falling as snow about southern Alpine peaks during the morning. Cool with moderate to fresh southwest to southerly winds.Friday 2 DecemberDry apart from some isolated showers over east Gippsland, clearing later. Cool in the south, milder in the north with light to moderate south to southeasterly winds.Saturday 3 DecemberCool to mild and partly cloudy in the south. Warmer and mostly sunny in the north.
