Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Nov 28/11 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A high pressure system will form over the Tasman Sea on Monday. The next cold front and associated low pressure trough will enter western Victoria Tuesday afternoon and will clear eastern Victoria by early Wednesday afternoon introducing a colder southwest to southerly airstream. On Thursday a strong high pressure system will develop south of the Bight and will move only slowly eastwards over the next few days.
Forecast for the rest of MondayIsolated showers over southern and mountain districts with the chance of isolated thunderstorms. Light to moderate northwesterly winds with seabreezes near the coast.Tuesday 29 NovemberEarly fog patches over Gippsland. Isolated showers and thunderstorms developing over the east in the afternoon and rain areas with local thunder developing from the west. Remaining mostly dry over central districts and the northwest. A hot day with fresh to locally strong northerly wind shifting cooler west to southwesterly in the west later.Fire Danger -  Generally High to Very High, reaching Severe in the northwest.Wednesday 30 NovemberA band of rain crossing the State. Scattered showers and local hail to follow, mainly affecting southern and mountain districts. Isolated thunderstorms. Colder southwest to southerly winds extending throughout and snowfalls developing above 1500m at night.Thursday 1 DecemberScattered showers in southern and mountain areas becoming isolated and contracting to the southeast later. Local hail and thunder in the south clearing during the afternoon. Showers falling as snow above 1500m during the morning. Cool with moderate to fresh southwest to southerly winds.Friday 2 DecemberIsolated showers in the south contracting to east Gippsland early in the morning then clearing in the evening. Cool in the south, milder in the north with light to moderate southerly winds, locally fresh about the coast.The next routine forecast will be issued at 5:00 am EDT Tuesday.Product IDV10310
