MELBOURNE - Nov 28/11 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A high is over the Tasman with a ridge over NSW. Another high is west of the Bight. A trough between these highs lies over the SA/WA border today. It will move over SA on Tuesday. A cold front approaches the trough from the southwest, and this will move through much of NSW on Wednesday and through northeastern NSW on Thursday, bringing unsettled weather to most districts ahead of the change. This system is forecast to be fairly fast-moving, so that a return to mostly fine conditions is likely by week's end. Forecast for the rest of MondayIsolated showers and possible thunderstorms along the north coast and ranges and in the far southeast. Mostly clear remainder.Northeast winds..Tuesday 29 NovemberIsolated showers and thunderstorms possible over much of the northeastern half of the state, though less likely along the coast. Increasing cloud in the far southwest, with the chance of some late light patchy rain in the far southwestern corner. Fine elsewhere. Northwest to northeast winds, strengthening along the southern coast.Fire Danger - Very High Northern Riverina and far WesternWednesday 30 NovemberPatchy rain in the far southwest clearing and becoming sunny. Isolated showers in the northeast. Widespread showers and thunderstorms extending northeastwards over much of the remainder. North to northwest winds Fresh to strong and gusty about the ranges, ahead of a cool, fresh south to southwest change through western and southern parts.Thursday 1 DecemberShowers, rain areas and thunderstorms over eastern parts contracting to the northeast. Sunny in the west and becoming sunny in the southeast. Cool southwest to southerly winds extending throughout, strong along the coast.Friday 2 DecemberIsolated showers in the east more likely along the northern half of the coast and east ranges.
