MELBOURNE - Nov 28/11 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of South Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A broad low pressure trough will remain slow moving over South Australia today. A more significant trough and cold front will move across the state on Tuesday, ahead of a large high pressure system developing to the south of Western Australia. This high will then move slowly east to be centred to the south of the Bight later Friday. Forecast for the rest of MondayFine apart from isolated light showers near southern and western coasts, and isolated thunderstorms about the far west coast, possibly reaching Lower Eyre Peninsula this evening. Warm to hot with moderate to fresh northerly winds, tending light to moderate southeast to northeast near southern and western coasts.Tuesday 29 NovemberIsolated thundery showers extending from the west, reaching the far south and west of the North East Pastoral district in the evening. Hot with freshening northerly winds, ahead of a milder, fresh to strong southwesterly change in the west gradually extending eastwards to reach the North East Pastoral district in the evening.Wednesday 30 NovemberIsolated showers and thunderstorms northeast of about Coober Pedy to Clare, contracting northeast and clearing in the evening. Isolated showers over the remainder southeast of about Ceduna, contracting to south of Adelaide by late morning, and to the Lower South East coast by late afternoon. Warm to hot in the far northeast with northerly winds shifting fresh southwesterly during the morning. Mostly cool over the rest of the state with fresh southwest to southerly winds, strong at times near the coast.Thursday 1 DecemberIsolated showers south of about Cleve to Keith, mainly coastal, contracting to the Lower South East coast in the afternoon. Cool to mild with moderate southwest to southeast winds, with fresh afternoon coastal sea breezes.Friday 2 December Fine apart from isolated morning showers near southern coasts. Mild with moderate southeast to easterly winds. Cumulative rainfall totals from Monday afternoon until midnight Friday are expected to be 1 to 5 mm, with isolated falls of 5 to 10 mm over the southern agricultural area. Saturday until MondayFine apart from isolated showers in the far west and far northeast on Sunday and Monday with possible thunder in the northeast.
