Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Nov 23/11 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A high pressure system south of the Bight extends a ridge across Tasmania while a low pressure trough will develop today over western New South Wales. The ridge will remain to the south of Victoria on Friday as the trough over New South Wales develops a low pressure centre near northwestern Victoria. The low will move across Victoria Saturday to be located near eastern Bass Strait by Saturday night. The low will then move quickly across the southern Tasman Sea on Sunday.
Forecast for the rest of ThursdayFine apart from isolated showers developing over northern districts during the morning, tending to rain areas during the evening. Generally mild with moderate east to southeasterly winds becoming fresh to locally strong near the coast.Fire Danger -  Moderate, locally high in the northeast and southwest.Friday 25 NovemberRain areas over the north extending southwards during the day. Isolated thunderstorms in the north. Mild with moderate southeast to northeasterly winds, fresh to locally strong near the coast in the afternoon.Saturday 26 NovemberPatchy rain and isolated thunderstorms clearing in the northwest later in the day. Rain tending more widespread over the east with locally heavy falls. Mild with moderate east to southeasterly winds tending northwest to southwesterly in the north.Sunday 27 NovemberAreas of rain and isolated thunderstorms over the east contracting to east Gippsland by early afternoon then clearing. Isolated showers to follow south of the ranges, mostly clearing by the evening. A mild day in the south, warm in the north with moderate southwesterly winds freshening near the central and eastern coasts.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 pm EDT Thursday.Product IDV10310
