MELBOURNE - Nov 22/11 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A high pressure system south of the Bight will direct a southerly flow across the State on Wednesday. The high will extend a ridge across Bass Strait on Thursday as trough develops over western New South Wales. The ridge will remain to the south of Victoria on Friday as the trough over New South Wales deepens and extends into Victoria. A low will develop in the trough later on Friday and will move over Victoria on Saturday. Forecast for the rest of TuesdayMostly cloudy with isolated showers over southern and mountain districts. Isolated showers in the northwest clearing by the evening. Light to moderate southwesterly winds.Wednesday 23 NovemberIsolated showers over southern and mountain districts contracting to the far east Gippsland coast during the afternoon. Cool and partly cloudy in the south. Mild and mainly sunny in the north. Moderate to fresh southerly winds.Fire Danger - High in the north.Thursday 24 NovemberFine apart from isolated showers developing over northern districts during the afternoon and evening. Generally mild and mainly sunny with moderate east to southeasterly winds about freshening near the coast with afternoon seabreezes.Friday 25 NovemberCloudy with areas of rain. Isolated thunderstorms in the north. Mild with moderate northeasterly winds, fresh at times in the afternoon.Saturday 26 NovemberCloudy with areas of rain and isolated thunderstorms. Some moderate to possibly heavy falls.
