MELBOURNE - Nov 22/11 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of South Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A high pressure system to the southwest of the Bight will move slowly eastwards to be centred well south of Kangaroo Island later on Thursday, and over the Tasman sea on Friday. An upper trough and associated rain band over the northeast of the state will contract eastward and clear the state late this evening. An upper low will developing over eastern parts on Thursday and Friday before moving over eastern states on Saturday. A low pressure system will develop over western Victoria on Friday. Forecast for the rest of TuesdayPatchy rain over the pastoral districts north of about Leigh Creek contracting northeastwards and clearing late evening. Possible isolated showers over the agricultural area contracting to southern coasts by evening. Mainly moderate southwest to southeast winds.Wednesday 23 NovemberFine apart from isolated morning showers near southern coasts and ranges, Yorke Peninsula and eastern Eyre Peninsula coast. Generally mild with moderate to fresh south to southeasterly winds, strong at times about southern coasts.Thursday 24 NovemberIsolated showers developing east of the ranges during the afternoon, otherwise mostly sunny. Mild to warm with moderate south to southeasterly winds, fresh about the coasts in the afternoon.Friday 25 NovemberScattered showers and possible thunderstorms east of the ranges with isolated showers extending to Yorke Peninsula and possibly reaching eastern Eyre Peninsula. Light to moderate southeast to southwest winds.Saturday 26 NovemberIsolated showers east of the ranges contracting east and clearing in the evening. Cumulative rainfall totals from Tuesday afternoon until midnight Saturday are expected less than 5 mm over the Northeast Pastoral this evening. Falls of 1 to 5 mm are expected over central and eastern districts increasing to 5 to 20 mm east of the ranges.Sunday until TuesdayOn Sunday, Monday and Tuesday isolated showers are forecast about southern agricultural area and west coast associated with a series of troughs.
