MELBOURNE - Nov 21/11 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A high is centred to the north of New Zealand, and another near Western Australia. A broad trough between these systems will remain over central and northern New South Wales for the next few days, with rainfall expected to increase in many areas during Tuesday as an upper-level feature approaches. The high to the west is forecast to strengthen and move slowly east during the second half of the week, bringing a cooler air mass across the state while pushing the trough towards the north. The precise position of the trough later in the week is currently uncertain, but it likely to impact on the distribution of rainfall at this time. Forecast for the rest of TuesdayFine in the far northeast, and across the southern inland. Showers or rain periods through the remainder, chiefly across central and northwestern areas where moderate falls are likely. Thunderstorms possible across parts of the north. Northerly winds in the northeast, and southwest to southeast winds elsewhere.Wednesday 23 NovemberFine over the southern inland and the far west. Showers or rain periods elsewhere, contracting to the northeast where moderate falls are likely. Possible thunderstorms in the northeast. Northerly winds in the northeast and southwest to southeast winds elsewhere, freshening in the west.Thursday 24 NovemberFine in the west. Isolated showers over the remainder, and rain periods in the northeast. Possible early snow showers on the alpine peaks. South to southeast winds, becoming fresh and gusty in many areas.Friday 25 NovemberThe chance of showers in the south, tending scattered about the northern inland.
