MELBOURNE - Nov 21/11 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of South Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A high pressure ridge extends over the south of the state. A cold front is expected to move over southern coasts early on Tuesday. A high pressure system will develop to the south of the Bight following the front, and then move slowly eastwards to be centred south of Kangaroo Island later on Thursday. An upper trough and associated rain band over the north of the state will contract eastward and clear early Wednesday. Forecast for the rest of MondayPatchy rain over the pastoral districts north of about Coober Pedy to Leigh Creek, increasing to areas of rain further north with possible local heavy falls. Light to moderate southwest to southeast winds.Tuesday 22 NovemberPatchy rain over the pastoral districts north of about Coober Pedy to Leigh Creek, more widespread in the far northeast, contracting northeastwards during the day and clearing late evening. Possible local heavy falls. Isolated showers developing over the southern agricultural area, scattered over the southeast, contracting to southern coasts by evening. Early morning fog patches over the agricultural area.Generally mild with mainly moderate southwest to southeast winds.Wednesday 23 NovemberFine apart from isolated morning showers near southern coasts and ranges, Yorke Peninsula and eastern Eyre Peninsula coast. Generally mild with moderate to fresh south to southeasterly winds.Thursday 24 November Sunny. Mild to warm with moderate south to southeasterly winds. Cumulative rainfall totals from Monday afternoon until midnight Thursday are expected to be less than 3 mm over the agricultural area and west coast, 5 to 10 mm over the northern pastorals, increasing to 10 to 20 mm over the far northeast, with isolated falls of 20 to 40 mm possible. Friday 25 NovemberMostly sunny. Becoming warm to hot. Light to moderate southeast to northeast winds and afternoon coastal sea breezes.Saturday until MondayPartly cloudy in the east on Friday otherwise mostly sunny ahead of increasing cloud on Sunday and Monday ahead of a trough moving into the west on Monday.
