Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Nov 21/11 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A ridge of high pressure extends from the Bight to northern Victoria. A cold front crossing the Southern Ocean will approach southwestern Victoria late today and will move across southern Victoria on Tuesday. A high pressure system located south of the Bight on Wednesday will direct a southerly flow across the state. The flow will tend south to southeasterly on Thursday as the high slowly moves eastwards.
Forecast for the rest of MondayLocal early morning fog. Isolated showers possible about the southwest and central coasts during the morning, otherwise a fine and mild day with high cloud increasing from the northwest. Generally light to moderate west to northwesterly winds and afternoon coastal sea breezes.Fire Danger -  Low to moderate.Tuesday 22 NovemberScattered showers developing, mainly in southern and mountain districts. Cool in the south, mild in the north with moderate west to southwesterly winds gradually extending throughout and freshening about the coast.Wednesday 23 NovemberScattered showers near and south of the ranges tending more isolated over the southwest. Showers falling as snow about the Alpine peaks in the afternoon. Cool in the south and mild in the north with moderate to fresh southwest to southerly winds.Thursday 24 NovemberIsolated showers over the east contracting to Gippsland in the afternoon. Showers falling as snow about the Alpine peaks during the morning. Fine elsewhere. A mild and partly cloudy day in the south, tending warmer and mostly sunny in the north.
