MELBOURNE - Nov 21/11 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of South Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A high pressure ridge extends over the Bight. A cold front is expected to move over southern coasts early on Tuesday. A high pressure system will develop to the south of the Bight following the front, and then move slowly eastwards to be centred south of Kangaroo Island later on Thursday. Forecast for the rest of MondayPatchy rain over the pastoral districts north of about Coober Pedy to Leigh Creek, increasing to areas of rain and possible thunderstorms further north. Isolated light morning showers in the Lower South East. Generally mild with mainly moderate southwest to southeast winds.Tuesday 22 NovemberPatchy rain and possible thunderstorms over the pastoral districts north of about Coober Pedy to Leigh Creek, more widespread in the far northeast, contracting northeastwards during the day and clearing by late evening. Isolated showers developing over the southern agricultural area, contracting to southern coasts by evening. Generally mild with mainly moderate southwest to southeast winds.Wednesday 23 NovemberFine apart from isolated morning showers near southern coasts. Generally mild with moderate to fresh south to southeasterly winds.Thursday 24 November Sunny. Mild to warm with moderate south to southeasterly winds. Cumulative rainfall totals from Monday morning until midnight Thursday are expected to be less than 3 mm over the agricultural area and west coast, 5 to 15 mm over the northern pastorals, increasing to 15 to 30 mm over the far northeast, with isolated falls of 30 to 50 mm possible. Friday until SundayMostly sunny. Becoming warm to hot.
