Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Nov 20/11 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A cold front will move rapidly from central Bass Strait through eastern Bass Strait this evening. A ridge of high pressure will extend from the Bight to northern Victoria tonight. The next cold front will approach western Victoria late on Monday and move across southern Victoria on Tuesday. A high pressure system located south of the Bight on Wednesday will direct a southerly flow across the state. The flow will tend more south to southeasterly on Thursday as the high slowly moves eastwards.
Forecast for the rest of SundayIsolated showers in the south, mainly near the coast. Fresh west to southwesterly winds, strong about the coast but easing during the evening.Monday 21 NovemberIsolated showers possible about the southwest and central coasts during the morning. Otherwise a fine and mild day with high cloud increasing from the northwest. Generally light to moderate west to northwesterly winds and afternoon coastal sea breezes.Fire Danger -  Low to moderate.Tuesday 22 NovemberScattered showers developing, mainly in southern and mountain districts. Cool in the south, mild in the north with moderate west to southwesterly winds gradually extending throughout and freshening about the coast.Wednesday 23 NovemberScattered showers near and south of the ranges tending more isolated over the southwest. Showers falling as snow about the Alpine peaks in the afternoon. Cool in the south and mild in the north with moderate to fresh southwest to southerly winds.Thursday 24 NovemberIsolated showers over the east contracting to Gippsland in the afternoon. Showers falling as snow about the Alpine peaks during the morning. Fine elsewhere. A mild and partly cloudy day in the south, tending warmer and mostly sunny in the north. Moderate to fresh south to southeasterly winds.The next routine forecast will be issued at 5:00 am EDT Monday.Product IDV10310
