MELBOURNE - Nov 18/11 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of South Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A trough over inland parts will move across the northeast today, then clear early Sunday. A high pressure ridge extends over the Bight and will remain there over the next few days with a high pressure system moving over the southern Bight during Tuesday. Weak fronts will move over southern coasts on Sunday and Tuesday. Forecast for the rest of SaturdayPatchy rain and isolated thunderstorms in the south and west will extend north during the day to reach the south of the Pastoral districts by late afternoon. Rain will clear southern coasts by midday, and the agricultural area by late evening. Isolated showers and thunderstorms ahead of the rain will extend over most of the state apart from the far northeast during the day. Hot to very hot in the northeast, but milder elsewhere. Fresh southerly winds extending throughout except the far northeast.Sunday 20 NovemberPatchy rain and possible thunderstorms over the Pastoral and Flinders districts north of about Woomera to Yunta, contracting to north of Leigh Creek to Coober Pedy by sunrise. Isolated showers about Kangaroo Island and the Lower South East until evening. Generally milder conditions throughout with moderate to fresh southwest to southeast winds.Monday 21 NovemberPatchy rain and possible thunderstorms over the Pastoral districts north of about Coober Pedy to Leigh Creek. Fine over the remainder. Generally mild with mainly moderate southwest to southeast winds.Tuesday 22 NovemberPatchy rain and isolated thunderstorms in the Northeast Pastoral, contracting eastwards to the far northeast in the evening. Isolated showers developing over the southern agricultural area, contracting to southern coasts by evening. Generally mild with mainly moderate southwest to southeast winds. Cumulative rainfall totals from Saturday morning until midnight Tuesday are expected to be 2 to 10 mm generally, with isolated falls of 10 to 25 mm with rain and thunderstorms, chiefly in the north.Wednesday until FridayFine apart from isolated morning showers near southern coasts on Wednesday.
