Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Nov 16/11 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A high pressure system will be centred over the Tasman Sea during today and Friday. A cold front and associated low pressure trough will reach western Victoria late Friday and will cross the remainder of the State during Saturday. A high pressure ridge will extend from the Bight to Victoria on Sunday.
Forecast for the rest of ThursdayFine apart from early fog patches in Gippsland and the chance of afternoon thundery showers about the northeast ranges. Warm to hot and mostly sunny inland with light winds tending northerly, but milder along the coastal fringe with local afternoon seabreezes.Fire Danger -  Moderate to HighFriday 18 NovemberA fine and mostly sunny morning. A very warm to hot and humid day. Scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms developing late in the afternoon over the southwest. The chance of late afternoon and evening showers and thunderstorms in remaining southern and mountain areas. Moderate to fresh north to northwesterly winds shifting cooler southwesterly over the southwest late in the day.Saturday 19 NovemberA band of rain and isolated thunderstorms extending northeastwards across the State then clearing from the southwest during the afternoon with only isolated showers to follow. Locally heavy falls developing in the northeast later in the day and evening. Very warm and humid in the north but milder in the south. Southwest to southerly winds gradually extending throughout.Sunday 20 NovemberAreas of rain and possible thunderstorms in the north and east, clearing during the day. Isolated showers in the south also clearing later. Cool to mild with moderate to fresh southwesterly winds.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 pm EDT Thursday.Product IDV10310
