Australia -- South Australia Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Nov 16/11 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of South Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A high pressure system centred south of Kangaroo Island will move eastwards to be centred over the Tasman Sea on Thursday. A cold front will move into the far southwest of the State late Thursday evening then gradually extend across the south and west during Friday then across the northeast during Saturday. Another high will become established south of the Bight early next week as an upper trough moves across the north.
Forecast for the rest of WednesdayIsolated showers and possible thunderstorms over the Pastoral and Flinders districts. Patchy rain northeast of about Marree. Cool to mild in the south grading to warm in the north. Fresh south to southeast winds near the coast and in the far northeast. Generally light winds elsewhere.Thursday 17 NovemberPatchy rain in the far northeast clearing during the evening. Isolated afternoon and early evening showers over the Northeast Pastoral and Flinders districts. Warm to hot with moderate northerly winds ahead of a milder southerly change later in the far southwest.Friday 18 NovemberIsolated showers and possible thunderstorms gradually extending over the south and west. Areas of rain developing near southern coasts during the evening. Hot to very hot with fresh north to northwest winds, turning milder southerly over the west and south.Saturday 19 November
Isolated showers and possible thunderstorms over most of the State gradually contracting northwards to be confined to the pastoral and northern agricultural areas by evening. Areas of rain and possible thunderstorms extending across the south, clearing in the far south during the evening. Hot in the northeast, but milder elsewhere. Fresh southerly winds extending throughout all but the far northeast.
Sunday 20 November
Patchy rain and possible thunderstorms over the Pastoral and Flinders districts contracting to the far north. Isolated showers near the coast contracting to southern coasts by evening. Milder conditions throughout with moderate to fresh southwest to southeast winds.
Cumulative rainfall totals until midnight Sunday are expected to be 1 to 5 mm generally, increasing to 5 to 10 mm in the South East. Falls of 10 to 20 mm are possible with thunderstorms.
Monday until WednesdayPatchy rain in the far north contracting eastwards and clearing by Wednesday. Isolated showers near southern coasts at times, extending to remaining coasts briefly on Tuesday morning. Mild in the south grading to warm in the north. Mainly moderate southwest to southeast winds.The next routine forecast will be issued at 5:30 am CDT Thursday.Product IDS10033
