MELBOURNE - Nov 10/11 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Queensland was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Warning Summary at issue time For the latest warning information please check the Bureau's web site www.bom.gov.au/qld Weather Situation A high over the southeast Australia will move east into the Tasman Sea during to today and strengthen the ridge along the east coast of Queensland. A surface trough extends from the far northwest of the state to the southeast inland. Forecast for the rest of Friday Isolated showers and thunderstorms are expected to develop in a band from the northwest, across the central west and into the southeast interior of the state. Isolated showers about the east coast north of Cardwell with isolated afternoon showers and possible thunderstorms about the west coast of Cape York Peninsula. Moderate to fresh NE to SE winds along the east coast, tending light to moderate over the interior. Fine elsewhere. Very high fire dangers about the North West, Channel Country, Central West and Northern Goldfields and Upper Flinders districts. Forecast for Saturday The high over the Tasman Sea will maintain a firm ridge along the east coast. Isolated showers or early drizzle along the east coast in the moist onshore flow. Isolated showers and thunderstorms about the Gulf of Carpentaria coast and also about the southeast and southern interior. Fine over the remainder of the state. Light to moderate NE to SE winds, fresh at times about the tropical east coast. Forecast for Sunday The high will remain over the Tasman Sea and maintain a ridge along the east coast. Isolated showers are again possible about the east coast north of about Mackay. Early low cloud about the east coast may also produce some drizzle areas. Isolated showers and thunderstorms about the Gulf Country and the southern and southeast interior. Fine and very warm to hot over the remainder of the state. Forecast for Monday The high will lie near New Zealand, but will still maintain a ridge and some isolated showers about the east coast north of about Mackay. Showers and thunderstorms will continue about the Gulf Country. Isolated showers and possible thunderstorms are expected over the southeast and southern interior. Fine and very warm to hot over the rest of the state. Outlook for Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday A weak northerly airflow will maintain very warm to hot conditions over much of the state early in the new week, however a new high moving into the Tasman Sea may ease temperatures by few degrees over the southeast districts from around Wednesday. The new high should increase the onshore winds and showers along the east coast from Wednesday or Thursday. Remaining mainly fine over the remainder of the state except for some isolated showers and thunderstorms about the northwest and southern interior.
