Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Oct 30/11 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A low pressure system over central Bass Strait has weakened. An associated trough brushed the Gippsland coast Sunday afternoon and then joined with a deeper trough located east of Bass Strait. A slow moving high pressure system is located south of the Bight and will extend a ridge across Victoria from Monday to Wednesday. A cold front will cross Bass Strait late on Tuesday. The high will then approach western Victoria late on Thursday.
Forecast for the rest of SundayScattered showers on and south of the ranges in central and eastern districts, mostly contracting to Gippsland in the evening. Isolated thunderstorms possible over East Gippsland in the evening. Fine over the north and southwest. Moderate to fresh south to southwesterly winds.Monday 31 OctoberIsolated showers on and south of the ranges, mainly morning. Fine over the north. Cool to mild with light to moderate south to southwesterly winds.Fire Danger -  Low to moderate.Tuesday 1 NovemberIsolated showers on and south of the ranges. Fine over the north. Cool to mild with light to moderate west to southwesterly winds.Wednesday 2 NovemberIsolated showers extending inland during the day, possibly reaching the northern slopes. Fine over the northwest. Cool to mild with moderate southwesterly winds.Thursday 3 NovemberIsolated showers near the southwest and central coasts. Fine and mainly sunny over the remainder. Cool in the south, mild in the north with light to moderate southwest to southerly winds.The next routine forecast will be issued at 5:00 am EDT Monday.Product IDV10310
