Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Oct 25/11 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A high pressure system well south of the Bight extends a ridge through Bass Strait and will move slowly eastwards to be over the Tasman Sea by late Wednesday. A low pressure trough will then develop over the Bight on Thursday, before moving eastwards across western and central areas of Victoria on Friday and through the east and northeast of the State on Saturday.
Forecast for the rest of TuesdayCloudy in the south and east with isolated showers and drizzle patches, contracting to the east ranges and Gippsland tonight. Fine and clear in the northwest. Moderate to fresh south to southeast winds.Wednesday 26 OctoberCloudy periods with isolated showers over eastern districts, contracting to the far east by dawn and clearing during the afternoon. Fine and partly cloudy elsewhere. Mild to warm with moderate southeasterly winds, tending easterly along the coast and freshening during the afternoon and evening.Thursday 27 OctoberA fine day throughout although increasing cloud later in the day with an evening shower developing over the southwest. Mainly sunny in the east. Mild to warm with light to moderate northeast winds and freshening easterly seabreezes along the coast.Friday 28 OctoberAreas of rain developing in the west during the morning and extending to eastern districts by the evening. Mild to warm with a fresh to strong northerly wind, shifting cooler southwesterly over western and central areas during the day. The chance of a thunderstorm with the change.Saturday 29 OctoberAreas of rain and isolated thunderstorms contracting eastwards through northeast districts during the afternoon. Isolated showers persisting on and south of the ranges. Cooler with fresh and gusty south to southwest winds extending throughout the northeast and east during the morning.The next routine forecast will be issued at 5:00 am EDT Wednesday.Product IDV10310
