Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Oct 25/11 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A cold front is moving up the New South Wales coast. A high pressure system will strengthen to the west of Tasmania today, extending a ridge through Bass Strait, before the high centre moves over the Tasman Sea on Wednesday. A low pressure trough will then develop over the Bight on Thursday, before moving eastwards across western and central areas of Victoria on Friday.
Forecast for the rest of TuesdayRain across eastern districts, contracting east and clearing by the evening. Local heavy falls possible about the ranges and Gippsland. Remaining cloudy with isolated showers and drizzle on and south of the ranges, mostly clearing from western and central areas by the evening. Fine and becoming sunny in the northwest. Cool in the south, mild in the north with moderate to fresh south to southeast winds.Wednesday 26 OctoberCloudy periods with isolated showers over eastern districts, contracting to the far east during the afternoon and clearing by the evening. Fine elsewhere, partly cloudy in the south and mainly sunny in the northwest. Moderate southeasterly winds, tending easterly along the coast and freshening during the afternoon.Thursday 27 OctoberFine, partly cloudy in the east and mainly sunny elsewhere. Mild to warm with light to moderate northeast winds and freshening easterly seabreezes along the coast.Friday 28 OctoberAreas of rain developing in the west during the morning and extending to eastern districts by the evening although remaining fine over east Gippsland. Mild to warm with a fresh to strong northerly wind, shifting cooler southwesterly over western and central areas during the day.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 pm EDT Tuesday.Product IDV10310
