Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Oct 23/11 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A low pressure trough over central Victoria will move to the east of the State on Monday afternoon following the passage of a cold front across Tasmania. A high pressure system will strengthen to the west of Tasmania on Tuesday, extending a ridge through Bass Strait, before the high centre moves into the Tasman Sea on Wednesday. Another low pressure trough will develop over the Bight on Thursday.
Forecast for the rest of MondayRain areas and isolated thunderstorms, mostly in the south and west this morning but extending to the north and east during the day before easing from the west later this afternoon. Locally heavy falls about the coast and eastern ranges. Mild to warm in the north with strong northerly winds at first about the eastern highlands. Becoming colder in the south as fresh south to southeasterly winds develop.Tuesday 25 OctoberIsolated showers and drizzle in the south, clearing east by evening. Fine elsewhere. Mild with light to moderate southeasterly winds.Wednesday 26 OctoberFine apart from clearing isolated showers from the far east. Light to moderate southeasterly winds.Thursday 27 OctoberFine.
