Australia -- New South Wales Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Oct 23/11 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A stationary high pressure system over the northern Tasman Sea extends a ridge into northern New South Wales. This high pressure ridge is weakening ahead of a cold front that is currently situated to the west of Tasmania. This front is forecast to sweep across southeast Australia during Monday and Tuesday, bringing a southerly change to most of the New South Wales coast before it weakens into a trough over the north. Following this, the next high is forecast to move from the Bight to the southern Tasman Sea mid-week, establishing an onshore airstream.
Forecast for the rest of MondayEarly fog patches on the ranges as well as southern parts of the coast. Isolated showers and thunderstorms developing across southern and western districts, with showers tending scattered near the Victorian border later. Fine and mostly sunny remainder. Very warm to hot day for most of the state. Northwest to northeast winds freshening ahead of a south to southwest change in the south, strong and gusty along the coast.Fire Danger -  Very High for the Far Western.Tuesday 25 OctoberScattered showers for the southeastern third of the state. Isolated showers elsewhere, clearing later in the southwest. Possible thunderstorms for northern and central districts. Northeast to northwest winds in the northeast. Southwest to southeast winds developing in the remainder.Wednesday 26 OctoberIsolated showers on the western slopes and plains, tending scattered about most of the ranges and coast. Fine to the far west. Northerly winds in the far northeast, and south to southeast winds elsewhere.Thursday 27 OctoberIsolated showers in the northeast and about the south coast. Fine remainder. Northeast to southeast winds.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 pm EDT Monday.Product IDN10031
