Australia -- New South Wales Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Oct 22/11 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A high pressure system over the northern Tasman Sea will remain in position through the weekend, extending a ridge into northern New South Wales. On Sunday evening the high is expected to weaken and drift east as a cold front, currently well south of the Bight, approaches the region. This front is forecast to sweep across southeast Australia during Monday and Tuesday, bringing slightly cooler and showery weather to many southern and central districts, before it weakens into a trough over northeast New South Wales.
Forecast for the rest of SaturdayIsolated showers in the south near the Victorian border, chiefly in the southeast during the afternoon with possible thunderstorms about the southern ranges. Fine elsewhere, with high cloud extending over western and central parts. North to northeast winds in most areas, although southerly at first about the southern coast, and variable about the southern inland later.Sunday 23 OctoberEarly fog patches in the east. Isolated showers and the chance of a thunderstorm along the ranges and in the southeast. Fine and mostly sunny remainder. Northwest to northeast winds. Southeast winds in the south at first.Monday 24 OctoberIsolated showers in southern districts, becoming patchy rain or rain areas during the day. Fine and partly cloudy in the north. Generally northwest to northeast winds, ahead of a south to southwest change developing in the south.Tuesday 25 OctoberRain areas in the southeast, tending to scattered showers later. Fine in the northeast. Isolated showers elsewhere, clearing later in the southwest. Northeast to northwest winds in the northeast. Southwest to southeast winds developing in the south and west.Wednesday 26 OctoberIsolated showers on the slopes and plains, tending scattered on the ranges and coast. Northeast to northwest winds in the far northwest. South to southeast winds otherwise.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 am EDT Sunday.Product IDN10031
