Australia -- New South Wales Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Oct 21/11 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A strong high pressure system is centred in the Tasman Sea. The high is expected to remain semi stationary over the Tasman Seas until Sunday, drifting very slowly eastwards. A trough lies through southwestern NSW, and is affecting southern parts of the NSW coast. A stronger southerly change is likely to develop on Monday with a cold front entering the southern Tasman Sea. This front is expected to reach central parts of the coast Monday night or Tuesday morning where it will stall.
Forecast for the rest of FridayPartly cloudy across the far south, with a little light patchy rain and possible thunderstorms developing near the Victorian border. Fine and mostly sunny in the north. East to northeast winds in the north, and northwest to southwest winds developing in the south, tending south to southeast along the coast.Saturday 22 OctoberIsolated showers and possible thunderstorms across the the south, with possible showers extending to central parts of the ranges, otherwise fine with cloud gradually extending over western and central parts. North to northeast winds in the north, northwest winds in the south and southwest to southeast winds in the far south behind the trough.Sunday 23 OctoberIsolated showers along the east of the ranges and in the far south. Possible thunderstorms on the northern ranges. Mostly sunny remainder. Northwest to northeast winds. Southeast winds in the south at first.Monday 24 OctoberIsolated showers in southern districts, tending more scattered in the south. Partly cloudy in the north. Generally northwest to northeast winds, with a south to southwest change developing in the south.Tuesday 25 OctoberRain areas in the southeast, tending to scattered showers later. Isolated showers otherwise apart from the northeast. Isolated showers clearing later in the southwest. Northeast to northwest winds in the northeast. Southwest to southeast winds behind the change in the south and west.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 am EDT Saturday.Product IDN10031
