Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Oct 19/11 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A strong high pressure system just east of Sydney will move eastwards over the Tasman Sea during Thursday. A low pressure trough over the Bight will move eastwards across western and central Victoria during Thursday afternoon and evening, then stall over eastern Victoria on Friday and Saturday. A high pressure ridge will move through Bass Strait on Friday and Saturday, then another low pressure trough will approach western Victoria later Sunday.
Forecast for the rest of WednesdayFine. Generally clear with moderate north to northwesterly winds and weakening coastal seabreezes in East Gippsland.Thursday 20 OctoberWarm to hot with fresh north to northwesterly winds ahead of a cooler southwesterly change reaching the southwest by early afternoon then slowly extending eastwards across western and central areas during the afternoon and evening. Fine and mostly sunny in the east. Isolated showers developing over the west during the afternoon and evening, then tending to rain areas in the southwest with isolated thunderstorms possible.Friday 21 OctoberMostly cloudy with rain areas extending eastwards, then tending to isolated showers from the southwest. The chance of thunderstorms in the north and east. Mild in the south with light to moderate southerly winds, warm in the north with light and variable winds.Saturday 22 OctoberCloudy with scattered showers, mainly in the north and east. The chance of thunderstorms in the north and east. Mild in the south with light to moderate southerly winds, warm in the north with light and variable winds.Sunday 23 OctoberPartly cloudy with isolated showers, mainly in the northeast. The chance of thunderstorms in the northeast.
