Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Oct 18/11 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A strong high pressure system near Sydney will lie off the northern New South wales coast on Wednesday and Thursday. A low pressure trough will approach the western border late Wednesday before slowly crossing the State on Thursday and weakening over eastern Victoria on Friday. A high pressure ridge will move through Bass Strait on Friday and Saturday.
Forecast for the rest of WednesdayFine. A warm and mostly sunny day. Moderate to fresh northerly winds, lighter in Gippsland.Thursday 20 OctoberWarm at first with fresh north to northwest wind. A cooler southwest to southerly change reaching the southwest by early afternoon then slowly extending east across central areas late in the day and the east at night. Isolated showers and the chance of thunderstorms with and following the change.Friday 21 OctoberMostly cloudy with isolated showers, scattered over northern areas in the afternoon. The chance of thunderstorms in the north and east. Mild in the south grading to warm in the north with light to moderate southerly winds.Saturday 22 OctoberCloudy with scattered showers, chance of thunderstorms in the north and east. Mild in the south but warm north of the divide. Light to moderate south to southeast wind.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 pm EDT Wednesday.Product IDV10310
