Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Oct 17/11 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A strong high pressure system over Victoria will drift slowly northeastwards to lie near Sydney on Tuesday then off the northern New South wales coast on Wednesday and Thursday. A low pressure trough will approach the western border late Wednesday before slowly crossing the State on Thursday and weakening over eastern Victoria on Friday. A small high pressure centre will move through Bass Strait on Friday.
Forecast for the rest of MondayFine, cool and clear with light winds.Tuesday 18 OctoberEarly morning frost patches inland and local fog patches in Gippsland then fine. A mild to warm and sunny day with light to moderate northeast to northerly winds. Afternoon sea breezes developing along the Gippsland coast.Wednesday 19 OctoberFine. A warm and mostly sunny day. Moderate to fresh northerly winds, lighter in Gippsland.Thursday 20 OctoberWarm at first with moderate to fresh north to northwest wind. A cooler southwest to southerly change reaching the southwest by lunch time then slowly extending east across central areas late in the day and the east at night. Isolated showers and the chance of thunderstorms with and following the change.Friday 21 OctoberMostly cloudy with isolated showers. The chance of thunderstorms in the northeast. Mild in the south grading to warm in the north with light to moderate southerly winds.The next routine forecast will be issued at 5:00 am EDT Tuesday.Product IDV10310
