Australia -- New South Wales Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Oct 11/11 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A cold front has moved through New South Wales and now lies over the Tasman Sea. A high pressure system near the Bight is slowly moving east extending a ridge behind the front. The high will move over the southwestern Tasman Sea Wednesday night and then it will move towards New Zealand during Thursday and Friday maintaining the ridge to the north coast as a low pressure trough moves over the far west of the state. The trough is expected to contract to the northeast on Saturday and weaken during Sunday.
Forecast for the rest of TuesdayMostly sunny apart from the chance of showers in the far southeastern inland or snow showers on the Alps. Southeast to southwest winds.Wednesday 12 OctoberThe chance of showers in the far northeast and far southeast. The chance of thunderstorms in the far northeast. Mostly sunny elsewhere. Early patchy fog, mostly about the ranges. Southeast to southwest winds, turning easterly on the northern coast later.Thursday 13 OctoberIsolated showers over the central and northeastern parts, more likely near the Queensland border. The chance of a thunderstorm over the northern slopes, plains and ranges near the Queensland border. Partly cloudy remainder. Early patchy fog, mostly about the central and southern coast and adjacent ranges. Southeast to northeast winds.Friday 14 OctoberIsolated showers over most of the state apart from the far west, tending scattered in the inland north. Isolated thunderstorms in the north, as well as central ranges and slopes, more likely over the inland north. Southeast to northeast winds.Saturday 15 OctoberIsolated showers with the chance of thunderstorm over most of the state apart from the far west, tending scattered in the inland north, with thunderstorms less likely over the coast. Southeast to northeast winds ahead of a southwesterly change in the west.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 am EDT Wednesday.Product IDN10031
