Australia -- New South Wales Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Oct 5/11 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A high pressure system centred east of Tasmania extends a weakening ridge along the New South Wales coast. A low pressure trough over South Australia will move into the far west of the state overnight as this ridge weakens further. The low pressure trough is expected to move slowly east, reaching the coast on Friday and moving into the Tasman Sea on Saturday. Following this, there are indications that a cold front may sweep across the region later on the weekend.
Forecast for the rest of WednesdayRain areas and isolated thunderstorms over the western inland, with patchy rain extending to central districts later in the day. Fine in the east, although cloud increasing. Southeast to northeasterly winds along the coast, and northwest to northeast winds inland.Thursday 6 OctoberRain areas, chiefly over the northeast inland, clearing from the far west later. Isolated thunderstorms about the northern and central inland. Northwest to northeast winds turning southwesterly in the west.Friday 7 OctoberIsolated showers, chiefly in the east and southwest, tending scattered near the Victorian border later. Isolated thunderstorms in southern and central parts. Mostly light and variable winds.Saturday 8 OctoberFine in the far west. Isolated showers elsewhere, contracting to the east, scattered on the southern slopes. Mostly west to southwest winds.Sunday 9 OctoberIsolated showers extending from the southwest. Fine in the northeast. Northwest to southwest winds.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 am EDT Thursday.Product IDN10031
