Australia -- New South Wales Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Oct 4/11 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A high pressure system centred near Tasmania extends a ridge along the New South Wales coast. This ridge will gradually weaken as the high drifts towards New Zealand, allowing a low pressure trough to move into the far west of the state later on Wednesday. Rain is expected to develop ahead of this trough, which is forecast to reach eastern districts on Thursday. Following this, there are indications that a cold front may sweep across New South Wales later on the weekend.
Forecast for the rest of TuesdayIsolated showers on the north coast, clearing later in the afternoon or evening. Patchy rain developing in the far west in the evening. Fine and mostly sunny elsewhere. Southerly winds along the coast, tending southeast to northeasterly inland.Wednesday 5 OctoberRain areas in the west, with the isolated thunderstorms. Fine in the east, although cloud increasing. Southeast to northeasterly winds along the coast, and northwest to northeast winds inland.Thursday 6 OctoberRain areas, chiefly west of the Divide, clearing from the far west later. Isolated thunderstorms in the northern and central inland. Northwest to northeast winds turning southwesterly in the west.Friday 7 OctoberIsolated showers on the Divide and eastwards. Isolated showers developing in the southwest, tending scattered near the Victorian border. Chance of a shower in the north. South to southwest winds extending throughout.Saturday 8 OctoberIsolated showers contracting to the east and tending scattered on the southern slopes. West to southwest winds, tending southerly in the southeast.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 am EDT Wednesday.Product IDN10031
