MELBOURNE - Oct 3/11 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Queensland was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Warning Summary at issue time
Nil.
For the latest warning information please check the Bureau's
web site www.bom.gov.au/qld
Weather Situation
A low [994hPa] off the northwest coast of New Zealand will continue to move
southeast and weaken. A high [1027hPa] near Tasmania extends a ridge over
Queensland that will persist over eastern Queensland tomorrow. An upper trough
will approach the west of the state late on Tuesday.
Forecast for the rest of Monday
Scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms about the eastern Darling Downs
and Granite Belt, southern Wide Bay and Burnett district and the Southeast Coast
district. Isolated showers and thunderstorms about Cape York Peninsula. Fine
over the remainder of the state. Light to moderate SE to NE winds, fresh at
times about the east coast.
Forecast for Tuesday
Cloud will thicken about the southwest of the state with patchy rain
spreading to the Channel Country, but little rainfall is expected due to the dry
lower levels of the atmosphere. The remainder of the state will be dry except
for isolated showers about the eastern coast of Cape York Peninsula. Moderate SE
to NE winds, fresh at times about the east coast. A cool morning across the
state with isolated early frosts about the northeast of the Maranoa and Granite
Belt. A very high fire danger about the Gulf Country, Northwest, Central West
and Central Highlands and Coalfields district.
Forecast for Wednesday
A surface trough should enter the southwest of the state and move slowly
eastwards during the day. Scattered showers and thunderstorms will spread to
thundery rain at times over the west of the state and extend in to the Central
West and Maranoa and Warrego districts by the end of the day. Fine conditions
are expected over the remainder of the state. Remaining cool over the east of
the state with possible early frosts about the Granite Belt.
Forecast for Thursday
The surface trough should slow through the central interior but the upper
level trough will continue to move east across the state. Early thundery rain
areas east of a line from Mount Isa to Cunnamulla should tend to showers and
thunderstorms during the day. Fine conditions should spread to the west of the
state in the wake of the trough.
Forecast for Friday
Lingering instability about the far southeast of the state should lead to
isolated showers and possible thunderstorms. The rest of the state should be
mostly fine although afternoon cloud about the southern tropical and central
coast may lead to some isolated showers.
Outlook for Saturday, Sunday and Monday
Thunderstorm and shower activity is likely to increase over the southeast
region on Saturday in response to another upper level trough, while the rest of
the state should be fine. Another upper trough is expected to move rapidly east
across the continent on Sunday and Monday but the timing of this is uncertain.
This trough may push another band of thundery rain east across the state during
Sunday or Monday.
The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:45 am EST
Tuesday.
