The trough will increase instability near the southern border, with showers and isolated thunderstorms expected. Isolated light showers will persist over the far northeast tropics. Fine conditions will continue over the remainder of the state. A surface low will most likely develop off the northeast New South Wales coast late in the day, extending a fresh to strong SW wind flow into far southern Queensland waters at night. Severe fire danger over the Maranoa and Warrego, Central Highlands and Coalfields, Central West, and southern parts of the Northern Goldfields and Upper Flinders. A Very High fire danger over the Gulf Country, North West, Darling Downs and Granite Belt, Southeast Coast, Wide Bay and Burnett, Capricornia, and northern parts of Northern Goldfields and Upper Flinders Forecast for Sunday The low off the northeast New South Wales coast should move further east into the Tasman Sea as the high moves east over southeastern Australia. Fresh to strong SW'ly winds will most likely continue over southern Queensland waters. Winds should ease slightly through the southern and central interior, reducing fire dangers. An upper level trough will continue to generate unstable conditions in the far south, with isolated showers and thunderstorms possible over the southern border ranges and Gold Coast. The high will extend a ridge and fine conditions over the remainder of the state. Forecast for Monday The low should move further east over the Tasman Sea towards New Zealand. The high will remain slow moving near Tasmania and combine with the low to extend a fresh to strong S'ly wind flow and an increasing S'ly swell into southern Queensland waters. The upper trough will most likely amplify into southeast districts, maintaining instability with isolated showers and thunderstorms possible on the southern border ranges and near the coast. Isolated light showers will occur over Torres Strait. Conditions will remain fine elsewhere over the state in the dry, stable airmass associated with the high. Forecast for Tuesday The upper trough will move east away from the southeast, stabilizing conditions in the southeast. The high will move east of Tasmania into the southern Tasman Sea, extending a ridge into Queensland with continuing fresh to strong southerly winds and isolated showers in the southeast. Fine continuing throughout the remainder of the state, although another trough system will move towards far western Queensland with chances of thundery rain increasing late in the day. Outlook for Wednesday, Thursday and Friday The high will weaken as it moves east over the Tasman Sea during the outlook period, therefore easing winds over southern Queensland waters. The trough system will extend a thundery rain band east over the state during the outlook period. Behind the trough, fine conditions will return as a ridge of high pressure builds from a high south of Tasmania. The trough will move off the southeast coast late on Friday. The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:45 am EST Saturday. Weather & WarningsAustraliaNew South WalesVictoriaQueenslandWarnings SummaryForecastsBrisbane ForecastQld.
