Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Sep 30/11 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A low pressure system over western Bass Strait extends a cold front over western Victoria. This system will cross Victoria late Friday and early Saturday before the low deepens off the central New South Wales coast on Saturday night. A high pressure system will pass over Tasmania later on Sunday then reach the Tasman Sea by Tuesday.
Forecast for the rest of FridayScattered showers tending to rain in the west. Showers falling as snow above 1300m over the Alps. Light and variable winds, tending moderate west to southwesterly about the coast.Saturday 1 OctoberMorning rain areas in the south contracting eastwards then clearing later. Scattered showers with local hail possible in remaining southern and mountain districts. Showers tending more isolated over the northwest and falling as snow above 1300m over the Alps. A cool to cold day with moderate to fresh south to southeasterly winds, strong about the coast.Sunday 2 OctoberMorning frost patches inland. Scattered showers in the southeast contracting to east Gippsland, otherwise fine. Cool to mild with light to moderate east to southeasterly winds.Monday 3 OctoberMorning fog patches in the east. Isolated showers over east Gippsland, otherwise fine. Cool to mild with light to moderate easterly winds.Tuesday 4 OctoberMorning fog patches in the east. Isolated morning showers over east Gippsland. Otherwise fine apart from some late patchy rain over the far northwest. Mild with light to moderate northerly winds.The next routine forecast will be issued at 5:00 am EST Saturday.Product IDV10310
