Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Sep 27/11 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A low pressure trough over western Victoria will move slowly eastwards today reaching central districts late afternoon and evening before passing over eastern districts early Thursday. A low associated with the trough looks set to deepen over Bass Strait during Thursday then move to the Tasman Sea on Friday. Another trough is expected to move over western districts later Friday and remaining districts early Saturday.
Forecast for the rest of WednesdayIsolated showers and thunderstorms in the east at first clearing, but scattered showers and thunderstorms redeveloping from the west during the day. Local heavy falls likely over parts of central Victoria late this afternoon, extending to the northeast this evening with showers and storms spreading to areas of rain. Mild with fresh to strong northerly winds ahead of a cooler westerly change over the west, spreading to central districts tonight.Thursday 29 SeptemberAreas of rain and isolated thunderstorms over eastern districts during the morning. Scattered showers over remaining districts extending to the east in the afternoon but tending more isolated from the west. Snowfalls down to 1300 metres developing over the Alps. A cool day with fresh northwest to westerly winds, tending more southwesterly from the west, strong at times near the coast.Friday 30 SeptemberScattered showers tending more isolated over the northwest. Showers falling as snow above 1200m over the Alps. A cool day with moderate to fresh westerly winds, strong about the Gippsland coast in the morning. Winds tending southwesterly in the west later in the day.Saturday 1 OctoberScattered showers with local hail possible in the south. Showers tending more isolated over the northwest and falling as snow above 1200m over the Alps.
