Australia -- New South Wales Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Sep 27/11 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A small low lies over the northern Tasman Sea with a high pressure system to its south extending a ridge to northeast NSW. Both systems are forecast to move east during the next day or two. During Wednesday and Thursday a strong cold front preceded by a rain band, thunderstorms and gusty northerly winds is expected to move through the state. Following the front colder, locally strong and gusty west to southwest winds are expected. An upper level trough is likely to cross the state over the weekend with a low pressure system developing over the Tasman Sea by Sunday.
Forecast for the rest of TuesdayIsolated showers and thunderstorms in the northwest. Fine elsewhere. Northeast to northwest winds, fresh in the west and on the south coast.Wednesday 28 SeptemberFine in the far northeast. Patchy rain elsewhere increasing to rain areas west of the ranges where thunderstorms are likely. Very warm in the far west and for the northern inland. Northerly winds strong on the south coast and in the far west. Late west to southwest change in the far west.Fire Danger -  Severe for Far WesternThursday 29 SeptemberRain areas and possible thunderstorms in central and eastern districts, easing to showers during the day and clearing from most of the coast. Isolated showers in the far west, clearing later. Snow on the Alps. Fresh to strong northwest winds turning colder southwesterly.Friday 30 SeptemberScattered showers for the western slopes of the southern ranges. Isolated showers for the remainder of the southern inland and far south coast. Fine elsewhere. Fresh west to southwest winds.Saturday 1 OctoberScattered showers in the east.
