Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Sep 26/11 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A high pressure system is moving slowly east over the Tasman Sea. A trough of low pressure over western South Australia will weaken as it moves southeastwards over Victoria on Tuesday. A low pressure system will move over the Bight on Wednesday with an associated cold front to move across western and central Victoria later in the day before crossing eastern Victoria early Thursday. The low will move south of Tasmania on Thursday as a trough following the front passes over Victoria. On Friday another trough looks set to enter western Bass Strait later in the day or at night.
Forecast for the rest of MondayIsolated showers possible over the far west and northwest. Moderate to fresh northerly winds.Tuesday 27 SeptemberPartly cloudy. Isolated showers over the northwest extending southeastwards then clearing from the northwest. Warm with moderate to fresh northerly winds.Wednesday 28 SeptemberAreas of rain and scattered thunderstorms developing from the northwest with possible heavy falls in the north. Mild with fresh to strong northerly winds ahead of a west to southwest change spreading to central districts at night.Thursday 29 SeptemberAreas of rain and isolated thunderstorms over eastern districts during the morning. Scattered showers over remaining districts extending to the east in the afternoon but tending more isolated from the west. Snowfalls down to 1300 metres developing over the Alps. A cool day with fresh northwest to westerly winds, tending more southwesterly from the west, strong at times near the coast.Friday 30 SeptemberScattered showers tending more isolated over the northwest. Isolated thunderstorms possible over the southwest. A cool day with moderate to fresh west to southwest winds.The next routine forecast will be issued at 5:00 am EST Tuesday.Product IDV10310
