U.S. Meat Output Lags Year Ago
Commercial red meat production for the United States totaled 4.30 billion
pounds in August, up 4 percent from the 4.13 billion pounds produced in
August 2010.
Beef production, at 2.39 billion pounds, was 4 percent above the previous
year. Cattle slaughter totaled 3.10 million head, up 5 percent from August
