Australia -- New South Wales Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Sep 23/11 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A high pressure system lies over the northern Tasman Sea, while a trough is moving across central and eastern New South Wales, bringing a gusty southerly change to coastal areas. This trough is expected to weaken and stall in the northeast overnight, while a strengthening high to the west extends a ridge across Bass Strait. This next high should drift slowly east through the weekend, as a trough deepens near northeast New South wales in response to an upper level feature. This pattern is expected to bring showers to most areas east of the Divide during Saturday and Sunday as an onshore airstream becomes established, while mostly fine weather should persist further west.
Forecast for the rest of FridayFine apart from the chance of late showers about the southern coast. Northwest winds ahead of a cooler southerly change in western, southern and central districts, very gusty along the coast.Saturday 24 SeptemberIsolated showers about the southern coast and ranges, extending to the north during the afternoon and possibly extending western slopes. The chance of afternoon thunderstorms in the northeast. Fine elsewhere. Northerly winds in the northeast. Southwest to southeasterly winds elsewhere.Fire Danger -  Very High: North WesternSunday 25 SeptemberScattered showers in the northeast. Fine in the southwest. South to southeasterly winds, fresh along the coast and ranges.Monday 26 SeptemberIsolated showers east of the Divide, clearing from the south later. The chance of patchy rain developing in the far west. Fine elsewhere. Southeast to northeast winds.Tuesday 27 SeptemberClearing showers about the north coast. Patchy rain developing over the western inland, extending to southern and central areas later. Fine elsewhere.
