Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Sep 21/11 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
The cold front approaching from the west is expected to enter far southwest Victoria late this afternoon and will cross the remainder of the State overnight and early Friday morning. Another high pressure system will move over the Bight on Friday, extending across Bass Strait on Saturday. The high will be located east of Bass Strait by late Sunday.
Forecast for the rest of ThursdayEarly fog patches in the east otherwise a mostly sunny day. Mild to warm with freshening north to northwesterly winds. A cooler west to southwesterly change reaching western districts this evening then extending eastwards overnight. Isolated showers developing over the southwest with the change and the chance of a thunderstorm near the coast.Friday 23 SeptemberIsolated showers on and south of the ranges contracting to the coast during the afternoon. Remaining mostly sunny in the north. Cool with moderate to fresh southwesterly winds extending throughout early in the morning then easing during the afternoon.Saturday 24 SeptemberIsolated showers, mainly on and south of the ranges. Partly cloudy. Cool with moderate to locally fresh south to southeasterly winds.Sunday 25 SeptemberEarly fog patches in the south and local frost inland. Isolated showers possible near the northern border during the morning. Otherwise a partly cloudy day with light winds tending northeasterly in the afternoon and seabreezes developing about the Gippsland coast.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 pm EST Thursday.Product IDV10310
