Australia -- New South Wales Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Sep 18/11 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A high pressure system centred off the southern Queensland coast extends a ridge into northern New South Wales. A cold front and associated gusty southerly change crossed southern and central parts of the coast today and is expected to weaken on the north coast this evening as a weak high centre develops off the southern coast. A second, stronger front will reach southwest NSW late tomorrow then cross most districts during Tuesday with strong northerly winds preceding it and gusty west to southwest winds to follow. Another weak high centre is expected to develop over NSW Wednesday. Showers are expected about the western slopes of the southern ranges Tuesday with even some snow expected on the Alps, otherwise generally dry conditions are forecast for NSW for the next few days.
Forecast for the rest of SundayFine. Generally clear apart from some high cloud across the north, and cloud developing along the southern and central coast. Cooler southeast winds along the southern and central coasts, easing. Southwest to northwest winds inland, warm in the north for the early evening.Monday 19 SeptemberPossible isolated late showers and thunderstorms over the southern inland. Fine and mostly sunny elsewhere. Isolated early fog patches in the east. Northwest to northeasterly winds, fresh to strong in the southwest and along the southern coast. A late, cooler, gusty southwesterly change in the southwest.Fire Danger -  Severe: Far Western. Very high: Monaro, Northern Slopes, Upper Central West Plains, South WesternTuesday 20 SeptemberIsolated showers over the southeastern, more widespread about the western slopes of the ranges. Snow showers on the Alps. Possible isolated afternoon showers in the northeast. Fine elsewhere. North to northwest winds, very warm in the northeast, ahead of a colder, gusty west to southwest change.Wednesday 21 SeptemberFine and mostly sunny. Early frost patches about the ranges. Mostly light to moderate southwest to southeast winds.Thursday 22 SeptemberFine and mostly sunny.
