Warning Summary at issue time A Strong Wind Warning is current for coastal waters from Torres Strait to Cape Tribulation. A Strong Wind Warning is current for Northeast Gulf waters north of Cullen Point. For the latest warning information please check the Bureau's web site www.bom.gov.au/qld Weather Situation A ridge axis occurs across southern Queensland from west to east and will weaken slowly over the next few days. Forecast for the rest of Thursday Isolated showers along the tropical east coast, extending to the inland Peninsula district during the afternoon. Fine elsewhere. Light to moderate SE to NE winds, fresh to strong SE'ly about the northern tropical coast. A very high fire danger in the Peninsula District. Forecast for Friday The high pressure belt continues to weaken over southern Queensland, very warm over the interior with northerly winds. Strong SE winds along the northeast tropical coast north of Cooktown and through far northeastern Gulf waters. Isolated showers about the northeast tropics. Fine elsewhere. Forecast for Saturday The ridge of high pressure weaken further but strong SE winds remain north of Cooktown and in the northern Gulf. Strong SE winds along the northeast tropical coast north of Cooktown and through far northeastern Gulf waters. Isolated showers about the northeast tropics. Fine elsewhere. Very warm temperatures spreading across southern Queensland. Forecast for Sunday The ridge of high pressure remains weak through southern Queensland. Sowers contract to the east coast of Cape York Peninsula. Fine elsewhere. Very warm to hot in the west and across the southern interior with northerly winds. Very warm over southeast Queensland. Outlook for Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday A surface trough will enter southwest Queensland late on Monday, and move into eastern districts by Wednesday. Increasing moisture will push showers on the central and tropical coast. Fine elsewhere. Very warm ahead of the trough, cooler behind.
