Warning Summary at issue time A Strong Wind Warning is current for coastal waters from Torres Strait to Cairns. A Strong Wind Warning is current for Northeast Gulf waters north of Cullen Point. For the latest warning information please check the Bureau's web site www.bom.gov.au/qld Weather Situation A broad high [1025hPa] over northern New South Wales extends a ridge into Queensland. The high will move very slowly over the next few days, maintaining a ridge and dry conditions over much of the state. Forecast for the rest of Wednesday Isolated showers about the northeast tropics north of Ingham and around the Central and northern Capricornia coasts. Fine conditions elsewhere with isolated early frost patches about parts of the southeast interior. Strong SE winds along the northeast tropical coast north of Cairns and through far northeastern Gulf waters, Generally light to moderate SE to NE winds elsewhere. Forecast for Thursday The broad area of high pressure will remain over southern Queensland. Strong SE winds along the northeast tropical coast north of Cape Tribulation and through far northeastern Gulf waters. Isolated showers about the northeast tropics and the Whitsundays. Fine elsewhere. Forecast for Friday The high pressure system will move over southeastern Queensland, with a broad ridge through the state. Strong SE winds along the northeast tropical coast north of Cooktown and through far northeastern Gulf waters. Isolated showers about the northeast tropics. Fine elsewhere. Forecast for Saturday The high will weaken and move into the northern Tasman Sea. Strong SE winds along the northeast tropical coast north of Cooktown and through far northeastern Gulf waters. Isolated showers about the northeast tropics, north of Cooktown. Fine elsewhere with warm daytime temperatures in southern districts. Outlook for Sunday, Monday and Tuesday The high centre continues to move east across the Tasman Sea, maintaining a broad ridge over Queensland. Isolated showers about the northeast tropical coast, while moist onshore winds are forecast to bring showers to the Central and Tropical coasts on Tuesday. Fine conditions elsewhere due to the dry, stable airmass associated with the ridge. Daytime temperatures to remain above the September average over southern districts. Minimum temperatures to be close to average throughout the state. The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:10 pm EST Wednesday.
