Australia -- New South Wales Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Sep 11/11 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A strong high pressure system in the western Bight extends a ridge to the northern Tasman Sea and towards Tasmania. A cold front will move northwards to the north coast during today. The high will move over southeastern Australia behind the front. The high will then remain semi-stationary over northern NSW with a ridge extending to the west and east until at least Friday. Meanwhile a series of lows is moving eastwards in the southern ocean. Fronts extending northwards from these lows may affect the south of the state about Wednesday and Friday.
Forecast for the rest of MondayEarly frost and fog patches about the ranges and slopes and southern inland. Early drizzle patches about southern parts of the Northern Tablelands and adjacent slopes. Isolated showers on the coast contracting northwards and clearing from the south. The chance of a few isolated afternoon showers on the Northern Tablelands. Mostly sunny elsewhere. South to southwest winds.Tuesday 13 SeptemberEarly fog and frost areas chiefly about the ranges and slopes. The chance of a few early showers on the far north coast. Sunny over most of the remainder. Southeast to northeast winds in the far northeast, west to northwest winds elsewhere.Wednesday 14 SeptemberIsolated showers developing along the Victorian border regions with the chance of snow on the higher Alps. Northwesterly winds ahead of a southwesterly change in the south during the afternoon and evening. Afternoon sea breezes on the north coast.Thursday 15 SeptemberThe chance of isolated early showers or snow about the Alps, and isolated showers extending northwards along the southern half of the coast. Mostly light winds in the west and southwest to southeast winds in the east.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 pm EST Monday.Product IDN10031
