Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Sep 10/11 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A large high pressure system is centred south of Western Australia and a low pressure system is over the Tasman Sea. Between these systems, a cold unstable southwesterly airflow exists over Victoria. A cold front embedded in the southwesterly airflow will cross Victoria during Sunday. The high pressure system will cross South Australia on Monday and will pass to the north of Victoria on Tuesday. The next cold front will reach southwestern Victoria late Tuesday.
Forecast for the rest of SaturdayScattered showers over southern and mountain districts with local hail at first in the east. Snowfalls down to 1200 metres, rising to about 1600 metres in the afternoon. Isolated afternoon showers over the northern plains. Cold with a fresh to locally strong southwesterly wind.Sunday 11 SeptemberScattered showers in southern and mountain areas and isolated showers in the north although clearing from the southwest during the afternoon. Snowfalls lowering to 1000 metres over the southeast. Cool to cold with a fresh south to southwest winds.Monday 12 SeptemberWidespread morning frosts inland. Isolated showers near the coast and developing over the southwest. Cool with light to moderate west to northwesterly winds.Tuesday 13 SeptemberIsolated showers about the southwest coast increasing at night. Cool to mild with moderate to fresh northwesterly winds tend west to southwesterly.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 pm EST Saturday.Product IDV10310
