Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Sep 8/11 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A weak ridge of high pressure will persist over Victoria today. A strong cold front will cross Victoria on Friday, bringing a cold southwesterly airflow to the State that will persist for the weekend.
Forecast for the rest of ThursdayEarly frosts and local fogs. Isolated showers near the coast extending inland late morning and during the afternoon and falling as snow on the Alpine peaks. Cool and partly cloudy with light winds tending moderate southwesterly later.Friday 9 SeptemberScattered showers and local hail over southern and mountain districts and isolated showers developing on the northern plains. Snowfalls lowering to 800 metres generally and to 600 metres in the east at night. Isolated thunderstorms possible over Gippsland. Cold with a fresh to strong southwesterly wind.Saturday 10 SeptemberScattered showers over southern and mountain districts with hail at first in the east. Snowfalls down to 600 metres at first in the east, rising to about 1300 metres by late afternoon. Isolated showers possible over the northern plains. Cold with a fresh to strong southwesterly wind.Sunday 11 SeptemberScattered showers in southern and mountain areas and isolated showers in the north. Snowfalls above 1400 metres. Cool to cold with moderate to fresh west to southwest wind.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 pm EST Thursday.Product IDV10310
