Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Sep 5/11 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A cold front will approach western Victoria tonight and will cross the State on Tuesday. A low pressure system is expected to form over South Australia late Wednesday and will move eastwards during Thursday across southern New South Wales, reaching the Tasman Sea on Friday. A cold front over the Southern Ocean will cross Victoria on Friday.
Forecast for the rest of MondayIsolated showers over the northeast and the chance of thunderstorms. Fine elsewhere this evening, then fog patches developing over Gippsland later tonight.Tuesday 6 SeptemberEarly fog patches in the east. A band of patchy rain crossing the State from the west with just isolated showers to follow. The chance of thunderstorms over the far northeast and over the southwest. Fresh to locally strong northerly winds backing colder west to southwesterly then easing a little. Late snow showers in Alpine regions above 1100 metres.Wednesday 7 SeptemberEarly frost patches and local fog clearing to a mostly fine morning. A partly cloudy afternoon with isolated showers developing over most districts, falling as snow above 1200 metres. Cool with light winds tending north to northwesterly and local afternoon coastal seabreezes.Thursday 8 SeptemberIsolated showers becoming scattered over the northeast late in the day and falling as snow on the Alpine peaks. Snow showers developing over Alpine areas at night. Cool and partly cloudy with light to moderate east to southeast winds, fresh over the northwest.Friday 9 SeptemberScattered showers and local hail over southern and mountain districts falling as snow above 800 metres. Isolated thunderstorms possible over the Gippsland. Isolated showers over the northwest plains. Cold with a fresh to strong southwesterly wind.The next routine forecast will be issued at 5:00 am EST Tuesday.Product IDV10310
